Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called on Congress leaders to treat the upcoming municipal elections as a top priority and work with commitment to secure victories for party candidates.
He addressed Congress candidates contesting the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation and Choppadandi municipality elections at Gumlapur village in Karimnagar district on Thursday. The Chief Minister said municipal elections were elections for party activists and asserted that the Congress would grow stronger only when workers received due recognition.
Revanth Reddy urged party leaders to approach the municipal polls with seriousness. He said every vote could influence the result and asked leaders to coordinate even with those who did not receive party tickets.
Municipal polls priority stressed during Karimnagar interaction
The Chief Minister accused the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government of failing to issue ration cards to eligible beneficiaries. In contrast, he said the Congress government had begun distributing ration cards to all deserving families across Telangana.
He also highlighted that the State government had launched Indiramma housing for the poor and introduced free travel for women on RTC buses. Revanth Reddy advised party leaders not to mislead the public and said delivering welfare and development schemes would ensure people’s support for the Congress.
Later, the Chief Minister laid foundation stones for multiple development works in the Choppadandi Assembly constituency. These included an Advanced Technology Centre at Ramadugu with an estimated cost of ₹45.15 crore and a government degree college at Maduranagar in Gangadhara mandal with a budget of ₹5 crore.
Ministers Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Adluri Laxman Kumar, along with MLAs and MLCs, attended the programme.
