Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud announced on Sunday that the Congress government will soon issue 17 lakh new ration cards to eligible residents across the state.
Speaking at a public event in Nizamabad, Goud criticised the previous BRS government, accusing it of driving Telangana into a debt crisis under the leadership of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He alleged that no new ration cards were distributed during the decade-long BRS rule.
“In contrast, the Congress government is moving ahead with plans to distribute 17 lakh new ration cards,” he said.
He also accused the BRS of failing to deliver on key promises, including the provision of double-bedroom houses. “The public was misled across all sections,” he added.
Goud said the Congress, despite financial constraints, has ensured continuity of welfare programs like free bus travel and subsidised rice. He noted that integrated schools are also being established in every constituency with a budget allocation of ₹200 crore.
