Hyderabad: Tensions erupted at a Congress party meeting in Khairatabad on Saturday as MLA Danam Nagender and Corporator Vijaya Reddy clashed publicly, triggering chaos among party workers.
The confrontation occurred during a meeting at Lake View, Banjara Hills, where an argument between the two leaders quickly escalated. Supporters from both camps raised slogans and counter-slogans, creating a noisy standoff that forced DCC President Rohan Reddy to walk out.
For nearly ten minutes, party workers argued and shouted over each other while party observers struggled to regain control. The episode laid bare deepening divisions within the Congress unit in Khairatabad.
Past incidents have reflected similar friction. During a rice distribution event in Himayatnagar, Vijaya Reddy had objected to the absence of her photo on display boards, leading to intervention by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. That dispute also ended in a verbal clash, further intensifying their rivalry.
The latest spat has renewed concerns over the party’s internal cohesion as it attempts to navigate ongoing organisational challenges.
