Congress names in-charges for municipal elections across Telangana

Hyderabad: The Congress government stepped up preparations for the upcoming municipal elections in Telangana. As part of this effort, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy assigned senior ministers as election in-charges across the State.

The move followed the Cabinet meeting held at Medaram. During the meeting, the government decided to hold municipal elections in February. Soon after, the Chief Minister handed over responsibilities to senior leaders for municipalities and corporations across the State’s 17 parliamentary seats.

According to party sources, the in-charges will guide candidate selection. In addition, they will oversee local campaigning. At the same time, they will monitor booth-level work and daily coordination in towns and cities.

Municipal elections: Congress assigns senior leaders region-wise

As part of the plan, Sudarshan Reddy will oversee Adilabad. Meanwhile, Uttam Kumar Reddy will handle Nizamabad. Similarly, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was named in-charge for Malkajgiri, while Sridhar Babu will look after Chevella.

Additionally, the party gave Tummala Nageswara Rao charge of Karimnagar. Likewise, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy was assigned Warangal. Further, Konda Surekha will oversee Khammam.

Congress leaders said the move showed a clear focus on urban areas. As a result, the party aims to put strong teams in place before polling begins.

Meanwhile, leaders expect the Election Commission of India to announce the election schedule within three days. Once that happens, political activity is likely to increase further across Telangana.
