Hyderabad: District Collector Harichandan has directed officials to issue show-cause notices to government staff who failed to attend the Prajavani public grievance programme held at the Collectorate on Monday.
During the session, which took place at the Collectorate conference hall, the Collector personally received petitions from citizens. Addressing officials, she instructed department heads to review all petitions by subject and ensure resolution.
She said pending applications would be reviewed department-wise and must be cleared by next Monday, warning of a follow-up review. She also stressed that officials should report to Prajavani on time and handle public issues with accountability.
In one instance, the Collector walked up to an elderly disabled woman in a wheelchair and received her petition directly.
The programme also marked a shift away from plastic, with steel water bottles replacing plastic ones at the venue. The Collector urged all government offices to prohibit plastic use.
Tributes were paid to Nishita, a junior assistant at the Special Deputy Collector’s Office in Hyderabad, who died of cardiac arrest. Additional Collectors Kadhirivan Palani and Mukund Reddy, RDOs Ramakrishna and Sairam, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Venkati, and in-charge DRO Sridhar were present.
