CM Revanth Reddy announces special development fund for 12,706 gram panchayats in Telangana

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday announced a special development fund for all 12,706 gram panchayats in Telangana. This fund provides additional financial support through the Chief Minister’s Special Fund for village development.

Under the scheme, major gram panchayats will receive Rs.10 lakh each, while smaller gram panchayats will get Rs.5 lakh each. The Chief Minister clarified that these amounts would be over and above funds released by the Central and State governments. He said the government would release the funds in the coming New Year.

Speaking at an interaction with newly elected sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members of the Kodangal Assembly constituency at Kosgi in Narayanpet district, Revanth Reddy said visible development works would enhance the credibility and respect of sarpanches among villagers.

He advised panchayat representatives to hold gram sabhas, prepare need-based action plans and prioritise the resolution of long-pending local issues. According to him, honouring commitments made to citizens was essential to build lasting public trust.

Special development fund to strengthen village governance

The Chief Minister assured elected representatives that the government would stand firmly with gram panchayats. He said he would personally ensure the release of nearly Rs.3,000 crore due to gram panchayats by March 31.

He urged sarpanches to rise above electoral rivalries and serve every citizen equally. Revanth Reddy said no discrimination should take place based on politics, past elections or personal differences. He stressed that representatives must set aside minor disputes to ensure inclusive governance at the village level.

Referring to infrastructure, the Chief Minister said the government had begun reviving stalled irrigation and development projects across the State. He mentioned projects such as Bheema, Nettampadu, Koilsagar, SLBC, Palamuru–Rangareddy, and Makthal–Narayanpet. These projects remained incomplete for nearly a decade and failed to supply water earlier.

Despite inheriting debts of nearly Rs.8 lakh crore, he said the government was securing approvals and restarting these projects in a phased manner. This initiative aims to address long-standing issues.

Revanth Reddy said the interaction was organised to personally congratulate newly elected representatives from 180 gram panchayats in the constituency. The aim was to encourage them to uphold public trust through dedicated service.
