CM should reveal steps taken for cyclone victims: Maheshwar Reddy

Hyderabad: BJP MLA Maheshwar Reddy on Friday demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy disclose the relief measures taken for those affected by Cyclone Montha, accusing the Congress government of neglecting farmers.

Speaking at the BJP state office, Reddy alleged that the State administration failed to act swiftly, despite widespread crop damage. “Revanth Reddy should learn from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on how to respond to natural disasters,” he said.

He recalled that the Chief Minister had earlier promised ₹10,000 in compensation per farmer for losses during the unseasonal rains in April and May. However, he claimed not a single farmer had received the amount. “This government holds review meetings and then forgets the victims,” he remarked, urging the release of a white paper detailing acreage compensated since Congress assumed office.

Reddy also criticised the Congress for allegedly politicising the Jubilee Hills by-election. He accused the party of using the AIMIM to secure minority votes and questioned the induction of Mohammad Azharuddin as minister, citing past allegations. “Asaduddin Owaisi is acting like the de facto Chief Minister. People are watching this Congress–Majlis drama,” he said, warning that Hindu voters would respond strongly in the bypoll.
