Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday announced a relief package for families and farmers affected by recent floods in Telangana’s Warangal and Husnabad regions.
The package includes ₹5 lakh ex gratia for families who lost loved ones, ₹15,000 for households submerged during the floods, and Indiramma housing for severely affected families. The government will also provide special assistance to those who lost livestock and standing crops.
Revanth Reddy conducted an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas and held a review meeting with officials. He directed department heads to submit a comprehensive report covering crop loss, sand deposits on farmland, livestock deaths, and infrastructure damage.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite requests for central assistance and warned against further delays in securing union funds. He called on elected representatives to support the damage enumeration process and submit reports to district collectors.
Emphasizing the need for coordination, he ordered a demolition drive to clear encroachments on nalas and water bodies. “Officials must act with clarity and enforce strict measures to protect public interest,” he said.
He stressed the importance of coordination between the Municipal Administration and Irrigation departments, directing the formation of a field-level committee. He also called for a special report on smart city development and regular field inspections by collectors.
Revanth Reddy noted that with climate-induced cloudbursts becoming frequent, long-term flood management plans are essential.
