Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes at the Secretariat on the Rajiv Gandhi birth anniversary. PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, CM’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, former MPs V. Hanumantha Rao and Anjan Kumar Yadav, Council chief whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLAs, MLCs and Congress cadres joined him.
Revanth called Rajiv Gandhi an enduring inspiration for India’s youth. He said the former Prime Minister sacrificed his life to protect national unity. Rajiv, he noted, pushed technology into governance, gave 18-year-olds the right to vote, secured women’s reservations in local bodies, introduced computers and unleashed a telecom revolution.
The Chief Minister said Rajiv’s vision laid the foundation for Hyderabad’s Hitec City. He vowed to advance Telangana’s economic and social progress in the same spirit. His government, he said, had already moved forward with 42 percent reservations for BCs and classification for SCs.
“Rajiv Gandhi must remain the role model for India’s youth,” Revanth declared. He added that Rahul Gandhi must become Prime Minister to amend the law and allow 21-year-olds to contest Assembly polls. “These dreams can only come true if Rahul becomes Prime Minister. We will not rest until that goal is achieved,” he said.
