CM Revanth Reddy inspects cyclone-hit areas, orders full damage assessment

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday visited areas hit by Cyclone Montha and directed officials to prepare detailed reports on the full extent of damage.

Joined by state ministers, the Chief Minister toured flood-affected localities, spoke with victims, and accepted petitions from affected families. Later, at the Hanmakonda Collectorate, he held a review meeting and instructed officials to visit affected sites and assess damage to life, crops, livestock, and infrastructure.

He stressed that all departments must work together and urged elected representatives to file constituency-wise reports. “Twelve districts suffered serious damage. We must not delay in securing central aid,” he said.

Revanth Reddy urged officials to stop relying on temporary fixes and instead plan for permanent flood solutions. He blamed poor inter-departmental coordination for worsening the recent crisis. He also ordered the removal of all encroachments on drainage lines.

The Chief Minister announced ₹5 lakh compensation for families that lost members and ₹15,000 for those whose homes were submerged. He asked officials to support farmers whose land was covered in sand and consider providing Indiramma homes to severely affected families.

He told municipal and irrigation teams to work in sync, especially on smart city tasks. “No relief work should pause,” he said, instructing the creation of a ground-level coordination committee.

Noting the rise in cloudbursts due to climate change, Revanth Reddy said the government must shift from stopgap measures to long-term disaster planning. He directed collectors to conduct more field visits and speed up relief operations.
