Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy left for Delhi on Saturday morning to meet the Congress high command. He flew from Shamshabad airport following a call from party leadership for the Telangana Congress core committee to attend key consultations in the capital.
CM Revanth Reddy Delhi tour focuses on DCC appointments
AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy also travelled to Delhi. The group will meet senior AICC leaders this evening to finalise new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents.
Party sources said the meeting will also discuss the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll and the upcoming local body elections. The Congress high command will review the cabinet expansion proposal and examine the state’s current political climate.
AICC observers prepare DCC shortlist
Earlier, 22 AICC observers toured all Telangana districts to assess the leadership structure. They submitted three shortlisted names for each of the 35 DCCs. The Congress leadership will choose the final candidates from these lists during today’s meeting.
Senior leaders said the selection process has been pending for several months. They want to complete the DCC appointments before local elections to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
Broader political discussions expected
According to party insiders, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will also brief the high command on recent political developments in Telangana. The talks are likely to focus on election strategies and coordination among the cabinet and PCC teams.
The visit comes at a crucial time for the party as it seeks to consolidate its base ahead of bypolls and civic polls. Revanth Reddy is expected to return to Hyderabad after the consultations conclude.
