CM Revanth highlights Telangana aerospace growth at Safran

Hyderabad: Telangana aerospace growth remained the focus on Wednesday as Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy addressed the inauguration of the Safran Aircraft Engine Services India facility in Hyderabad. He said Safran’s investment reflects continued confidence in Telangana. Moreover, he noted that the partnership has expanded steadily and now plays an important role in the State’s aerospace sector.

The Chief Minister said the new facility is India’s first Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul centre for LEAP engines. The ₹1,300-crore project will employ more than 1,000 skilled engineers and technicians. In addition, he said the unit will generate opportunities for MSMEs and precision-engineering firms across Hyderabad.

Telangana aerospace growth supported by military-engine expansion

Revanth Reddy explained that the foundation stone for Safran’s M88 military-engine MRO was also laid. The upcoming unit will support both the Air Force and the Navy. He further pointed out that Hyderabad hosts more than 25 global aerospace companies and over 1,500 MSMEs. Telangana’s industrial and MSME policies, he said, continue to rank among the most competitive in India.

He added that aerospace parks and SEZs in the city attract consistent global investment. Because of this, major firms such as Safran, Boeing, Airbus, Tata and Bharat Forge have selected Hyderabad for advanced manufacturing and R&D. The Chief Minister also said the city has developed into a major hub for MRO and aero-engine activity.

Telangana aerospace growth driven by exports and skilling

According to the Chief Minister, aerospace and defence exports doubled last year and reached ₹30,742 crore in nine months, surpassing pharma exports for the first time. Telangana has repeatedly received the Best State Award for Aerospace from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He added that Hyderabad ranked No. 1 globally in cost-effectiveness in the Financial Times’ Aerospace Cities of the Future report.

He said workforce development remains essential to sustaining Telangana aerospace growth. Consequently, the State upgraded 100 Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres with Tata Technologies. The Young India Skills University now offers specialised aircraft-maintenance training, and he encouraged Safran to partner in advanced skilling programmes.

Reaffirming the State’s commitment to investors, he highlighted the upcoming 30,000-acre Bharat Future City, planned as a net-zero global destination. He invited the Prime Minister to the “Telangana Rising 2047 – Global Summit” on December 8 and 9. Telangana aims to reach a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He also urged the Centre to designate the Bengaluru–Hyderabad route as an official Defence and Aerospace Corridor.
