Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has proposed appointing yoga guru and Patanjali Ayurved founder Baba Ramdev as brand ambassador for the state’s tourism sector.
The announcement was made during a tourism conclave held in Vijayawada, where Naidu said the move aimed to develop Andhra Pradesh as a prominent hub for yoga, Ayurveda, and spiritual tourism.
Naidu expressed the view that Baba Ramdev’s association could help promote the state’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and Ayurvedic centres globally.
Officials said the state was already working to expand wellness tourism and yoga retreats, with Ramdev’s role as brand ambassador seen as a key part of that effort.
Speaking at the conclave, Naidu highlighted that Andhra Pradesh had entered the Guinness Book of World Records by ensuring mass participation in International Yoga Day celebrations last week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also praised the event.
Addressing Ramdev directly, Naidu said the government hoped he would partner with the state tourism department as its ambassador.
