BRS seeks EC action against Congress for poll code violations in Jubilee Hills

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission, alleging serious poll code violations by the Congress party during the Jubilee Hills by-election campaign. The complaint was submitted by a BRS delegation led by senior MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao.

BRS demands central force deployment

After meeting Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy at BRK Bhavan, Harish Rao accused the ruling Congress of distributing over one lakh sarees, mixer grinders, liquor, and cash to influence voters. He said these acts were clear violations of the Model Code of Conduct and demanded immediate deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure free and fair polling.

“We have submitted both photographic and video evidence of these violations,” Harish Rao told the media.

Allegations of misuse of official machinery

Rao also alleged that several election officials were working at the behest of the Congress party and misusing their authority. He claimed that despite multiple complaints filed through the C-Vigil app and at local police stations, authorities failed to take action.

“Some officers have become tools of the ruling party. Even with clear violations, election officials remain silent,” he said.

Concerns over voter ID fraud and booth location

The BRS has also submitted complaints about fake voter ID cards and raised objections over the location of a polling booth next to the Congress party office in Yousufguda. Harish Rao urged the Election Commission to enhance surveillance at sensitive booths, deploy women officers, and enforce strict voter ID verification protocols.

He further demanded that ASHA and Anganwadi workers be included in the enforcement process to prevent electoral malpractice.

Harish Rao questions Congress promises

The BRS leader also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for revisiting the Congress party’s six promises ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections. He questioned why the CM ignored these commitments for two years and suggested that the sudden focus stemmed from fear of defeat in Jubilee Hills.

“The people of Telangana can see through the Congress party’s failed strategies,” Harish Rao remarked. “They will give their reply at the polling booth.”
