BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy slams Ponguleti over phone tapping claims

Hyderabad: BRS leader and Suryapet MLA Guntakandla Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday dismissed allegations of phone tapping made by state Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He called the claims “absurd” and said they revealed the failure of the Congress government.

Speaking to the media after casting his vote in Suryapet’s municipal elections, the former minister questioned how sitting ministers could claim surveillance. According to him, such remarks exposed a breakdown of law and order under Congress rule.

Phone tapping claims Telangana: Congress blamed for weak governance and police misuse

“If ministers say their phones are being tapped while they are in office, it reflects a total collapse of governance,” Reddy said. He further alleged that the Congress government had turned the police into party agents, thereby compromising institutional independence.

Reddy denied any involvement of BRS leaders in illegal surveillance. Instead, he accused the Congress of using surveillance tools against opposition leaders. He said the ruling party was creating false narratives to influence the ongoing municipal elections.

He also claimed that Congress ministers were using teleconferences with government staff to sway poll outcomes. This, he said, pointed to their lack of public trust.

In conclusion, Reddy asserted that the people of Telangana would eventually bring back former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to power.
