Karimnagar: A five-year-old boy from Gundlapalli village in Ganneruvaram mandal of Karimnagar district sustained critical injuries after being mauled by two street dogs on Thursday. The child, identified as Mahender, suffered severe abdominal trauma, with his intestines exposed following the attack.
According to reports, Mahender fell unconscious at the scene, and his panic-stricken parents rushed him to the Government General Hospital in Karimnagar, where the medical team responded immediately. A team of surgeons performed an emergency procedure, working for nearly two hours to save the child’s life.
Doctors said the boy’s intestines had been severely damaged and required intricate surgical intervention. Mahender is currently under intensive medical supervision and is being closely monitored.
Hospital Superintendent Dr Veerareddy praised the team of doctors—Gangadhar Reddy, Naveen, Ashok, Sai Prasanna, Grishma, and Sangeetha—for their swift and skilled response. He stated that the child’s condition is stable for now, following the critical care provided.
The incident has sparked concern over the rising menace of stray dogs in residential areas, particularly in rural parts of Telangana.
