BJP chief slams BRS, Congress for ‘neglecting Hyderabad’s development’

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has accused both the previous BRS government and the current Congress administration of neglecting Hyderabad’s civic needs, saying the city has been reduced from a “Global city” to a “Tragic city.”

Speaking at a Goud community meeting organised by BJP’s OBC Morcha at Motinagar, Rao alleged that both parties had “destroyed the livelihood” of the Goud community. He cited Congress-era GO 676, which shut toddy compounds, and said the BRS government continued the same policy. Only the BJP, he claimed, has consistently supported the economic upliftment of the community.

Criticising former BRS minister K.T. Rama Rao, Rao said the previous government failed to repair city roads, reduce traffic congestion, or fix manhole-related safety issues during its 10-year tenure. He also targeted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for not releasing the ₹2,000–₹3,000 crore funds he had promised for Hyderabad despite holding the Municipal Administration portfolio.

Rao further accused both BRS and Congress of “appeasing a 20% minority vote bank while ignoring the 80% majority population.” He credited BJP leaders Deepak Reddy and MP Raghunandan Rao with stopping the Congress from allotting land in Erragadda for a burial ground.

He urged voters in Jubilee Hills to support BJP candidate Deepak Reddy in the upcoming byelection. Several senior BJP leaders attended the gathering.
