Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Dharampuri Arvind questioned late-night loudspeaker noise from a mosque near his residence and shared a video on X to highlight the issue.
Posting the video, Arvind asked why loudspeakers continued to blare at 11 pm. He said students faced Class 10 examinations in about 15 days, followed by Intermediate exams.
The MP remarked that people who wished to stay awake could do so. However, he said residents should not lose sleep due to loud noise at night.
He also stated that nights meant for seeking forgiveness should not turn into a punishment for nearby residents. He questioned the need for such sound levels at that hour.
Loudspeaker noise tweet sparks mixed reactions
Arvind’s post triggered mixed reactions on social media. Some users alleged that he raised the issue in view of the upcoming municipal elections.
They questioned why loudspeaker noise, which existed earlier, had drawn attention only now. Others, however, supported the MP’s stand.
Several users said places of worship must avoid causing inconvenience to the public. They demanded the removal of loudspeakers to ensure peace during late-night hours.
