BJP demands impartial inquiry into FSL fire, links it to phone tapping case

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday demanded an impartial and independent inquiry into the fire at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Nampally. He said the facility stored digital evidence linked to several sensitive and high-profile cases.

While addressing the media in Bhadradri Kothagudem during the municipal election campaign, Rao argued that the fire could not be brushed aside as a mere accident. “This was not just any building. It contained hard disks, pen drives, DNA reports, voice samples, and other digital evidence related to cases that shook Telangana,” he said.

He asserted that the incident raised serious doubts about a possible attempt to destroy material evidence. According to him, the fire appeared timed to disrupt the ongoing investigation into the phone tapping scandal. “Despite two years having passed, the Congress government has failed to catch the real culprits,” Rao said. “Naturally, people are questioning the intentions behind the delay.”

BJP warns of sabotage, questions Congress-BRS links

Rao further alleged that the previous BRS government not only tapped the phones of BJP leaders but also made attempts to file false cases against them. “They targeted both our state and national leadership,” he said. He criticised the Congress-led government for its inaction, stating that the probe had made little progress.

Moreover, Rao claimed that Congress and BRS were shielding each other. In his view, both parties were using mutual cover to avoid accountability. “They are now throwing baseless allegations at BJP just to divert attention from their own failures,” he said. “People must see through this collaboration.”

Rao stated that the BJP was rapidly gaining ground across Telangana. He expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the upcoming municipal and corporation elections. “Voters are looking for a credible alternative, and they see that in BJP,” he concluded.
