BJP alleges HILT policy scam, submits complaint to Governor

Hyderabad: BJP leaders alleged a HILT policy scam in Telangana on Monday and submitted a formal complaint to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Raj Bhavan. They said the Hyderabad Industrial Lands Transformation plan posed serious risks to public land and demanded immediate scrutiny of the policy.

Party state president Ramchander Rao stated that valuable industrial land had been allotted at very low prices in earlier years. At present, however, the same zones recorded prices close to ₹100 crore per acre. Because of this sharp rise, he warned that realtors could pose as industrialists and still obtain land at a fraction of its market value.

Rao argued that this gap created room for misuse. Moreover, he said the pricing imbalance encouraged private gains at public cost, which made the policy vulnerable to large-scale irregularities.

HILT policy scam concerns escalate

Rao noted that more than 9,000 acres faced the risk of conversion into real estate through the policy. Furthermore, he warned that active industries might shut down if land shifted purpose without safeguards. He added that the shift could weaken the state’s industrial base and affect local employment conditions.

During the meeting, the BJP delegation briefed the Governor on each concern linked to the policy. They also sought immediate review, stressing that unchecked land conversion could disrupt long-term industrial planning. Rao confirmed that the team placed all related details before the Governor and requested prompt action.
