Hyderabad: The BC Commission slammed power utilities for ignoring its letters and delaying mandatory reports on employee issues. Chairman G. Niranjan expressed strong displeasure and said the utilities disregarded clear instructions issued months ago.
BC Commission slams power utilities during enquiry on pending reports
The Commission held an enquiry in Khairatabad with senior officials from the four power utilities. Earlier, the Telangana Electricity BC Employees Welfare Association brought several concerns to the Commission. After that submission, the Commission directed TGTRANSCO, TGGENCO, TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL to file reports within ten days.
However, the utilities missed the deadline and remained silent for nearly two months. Because of this delay, the Commission summoned the officials to appear on November 26 and justify the non-compliance. Officials attended the enquiry and finally submitted reports on BC employee issues. They also offered explanations on several pending matters.
Niranjan said the utilities must set up BC Cells within a week to handle grievances effectively. He noted that such cells would improve communication between the Commission and the utilities. He also said the Commission would examine the submitted reports thoroughly before taking further steps.
The Chairman added that the Commission may visit the utility offices for additional enquiries. He instructed the utilities to appoint liaison officers to coordinate future inspections and ensure timely communication.
