Bay of Bengal cyclone likely by October 26, IMD warns of rain in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a cyclone may form in the Bay of Bengal by October 26. Rain is likely in Telangana from the 27th. The weather over the Bay of Bengal is changing rapidly.

The IMD said a cyclone could form after successive formations over the sea. A surface cyclone over the Gulf of Thailand and Myanmar is now entering the North Andaman Sea.

Because of this system, a strong low pressure is likely to form in the east-central Bay of Bengal by the 23rd. It is expected to move northwestwards and intensify into a cyclone by October 26. The weather in the Telugu states will then change suddenly. The IMD sees indications of widespread rain in Telangana.

A low pressure area is also continuing over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Tamil Nadu coast. A surface circulation extends up to 5.8 km above sea level in association with it. Under its influence, moist winds are blowing into the state from the east and southeast.

Eastern Telangana districts face the heaviest impact

The IMD said the state will stay dry from Thursday until the 26th. If a cyclone forms on the 26th, moderate to heavy rain is possible. The impact of the rain will be especially severe in the eastern Telangana districts. Hyderabad will see cloudy weather.
