Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Monday accused the State government of mismanaging healthcare services, alleging that even basic supplies like needles, medicines, and cotton were unavailable in several government hospitals.
During an inspection of the Jammikunta Government Hospital, the Minister handed over medical equipment worth ₹1 crore and interacted with doctors and patients. He was accompanied by District Collector Pamela Satpati.
Sanjay expressed concern over the growing public distrust in government-run health facilities and criticised the State for failing to utilise Central assistance under the National Health Mission (NHM). He said the Narendra Modi-led government had released substantial health sector allocations, but these remained underutilised.

“If the hospitals fail to properly use the medical equipment provided, we will take it back,” Sanjay warned. He also highlighted reports of idle ambulances and described them as evidence of administrative neglect.
Additionally, he accused previous governments of widespread corruption in the construction of check dams. He claimed this mismanagement had led to repeated structural collapses, undermining irrigation development in the region.
The Minister announced that proposals had been finalised for modernising the Jammikunta Railway Station. He also confirmed plans for the construction of a new sports stadium in the town.
