Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday sought an unconditional apology from a CPI MLA over remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Telangana Assembly.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs objected to comments attributed to CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao during the Assembly proceedings. In a post on social media platform X, Bandi Sanjay said the remarks were inappropriate and unacceptable in a democratic legislature.
He alleged that the Speaker failed to intervene during the episode. He also accused the Congress-led Telangana government of allowing the remarks to go unchecked. According to him, this conduct undermined the dignity of the House.
Bandi Sanjay targets Congress, Left over Assembly conduct
Bandi Sanjay accused the Congress and Left parties of resorting to personal attacks instead of meaningful debate. He said such language reflected the steady decline of communist politics in the country.
The Minister also highlighted what he described as India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said governance reforms and development initiatives under Modi contrasted sharply with the criticism voiced in the Assembly.
Bandi Sanjay demanded that the CPI MLA withdraw the remarks immediately. He also called for an unconditional apology. He said criticism must stay within democratic limits and respect constitutional offices.
Earlier in the day, the CPI MLA made comments critical of the Prime Minister and the BJP’s policies and governance style. BJP members objected at once. As a result, the House witnessed an uproar during the session.
