KTR alleges political vendetta over Balka Suman arrest

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday criticised the Balka Suman arrest and alleged that the Congress government carried it out as part of political vendetta.

Addressing the media, he described the arrest of former MLA Balka Suman as unconstitutional. He alleged that authorities detained the Dalit leader without prior notice. Therefore, he claimed the action reflected misuse of police powers.

KTR questions legality of Balka Suman arrest

KTR alleged that the ruling party used law enforcement machinery to target opposition leaders. He claimed police acted under political pressure. In addition, he described the arrest as an attempt to silence dissent.

Referring to municipal developments in Kyatanapalli, he alleged that BRS candidates faced intimidation and harassment despite securing public support. He further claimed that returning officers and police officials acted under the influence of ruling party leaders during local body proceedings.

KTR cited incidents in Thorrur, Jangaon and Zaheerabad to support his allegations. He claimed that elected councillors were coerced or persuaded to shift loyalties. Consequently, he argued that democratic institutions were under strain.

He demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Balka Suman and detained BRS activists. Moreover, he urged the State Election Commission and the Governor to intervene and order an inquiry into the alleged irregularities.

KTR stated that opposition voices could not be suppressed through arrests. He added that those responsible for what he termed irregularities would face accountability in due course.
