Bachupally student suicides spark concern across locality

Hyderabad: Bachupally student suicides caused deep distress on Monday evening after two intermediate students died in separate incidents within the Bachupally Police Station limits. The cases involved students from different junior colleges in the area.

Police said Varsha, a 16-year-old from Makthal in Mahabubnagar district, was studying first year at Sri Chaitanya Residential Junior College, Vaishnavi Campus. Around 5 p.m., she returned to her room during a short break. She locked the door from inside and died by suicide using a chunni. Her friends and staff grew worried when she did not return for a long time. They reached her room and found the door locked. She did not respond despite repeated attempts to contact her.

They broke down the door and found her hanging from a ceiling fan. The staff rushed her to a hospital, yet doctors declared that she had died earlier. The incident shocked students on the campus and left the faculty shaken.
