Hyderabad: Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Dr. Soumya Mishra inaugurated the Ayurvedic Village Chanchalguda prison facility, reopening it after a six-year gap.
The centre, located at SICA in Chanchalguda, aims to combine affordable public healthcare with inmate rehabilitation. Officials said the initiative will provide authentic Ayurvedic treatments and therapies at nominal cost. As a result, members of the public can access traditional healthcare services within the prison campus.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Soumya Mishra described the Ayurvedic Village Chanchalguda prison project as a reformative step. She said the initiative strengthens the bond between prisons and society. Moreover, it equips inmates with structured training in Ayurvedic therapies and wellness services.
She added that inmates will receive certified practical skills to improve their employability after release. Therefore, the programme seeks to ensure both social reintegration and skill development.
