Ambedkar’s path guides education, economy: Vivek Venkatswamy

Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Sunday said the path shown by B. R. Ambedkar continues to guide progress in education and economic development.

Speaking after launching a Buddhist calendar at the Buddha statue at Hussain Sagar, the Minister said Ambedkar gave the nation a clear direction. Therefore, he urged people to grow by following the same path. He also called upon Buddhists in Hyderabad to unite and actively promote Buddhist activities.

Moreover, Vivek Venkatswamy appealed to Ambedkarites to practise the principles Ambedkar adopted after embracing Buddhism. He said Ambedkar rooted his vision in the welfare of all sections of society. He also stressed the need for both social and economic progress.

Meanwhile, the Bahujan Samyak Sanghatan released the Buddhist calendar. The event saw the participation of Sanghatan president Preetha Harit and noted Buddhist intellectual Bantiji.

Addressing the gathering, Preetha Harit said the country must embrace Buddhist values such as non-violence, peace, and love. However, she noted that society continues to face divisions based on religion and caste. Therefore, she stressed the need to remove such barriers.

She further said promoting peace and non-violence remains vital for social harmony. Finally, organisers said programmes like this help spread the teachings of Buddha and the ideals of Dr Ambedkar among the people.
