Adilabad’s RIMS gets boost with ₹23.75 crore critical care unit

Hyderabad: A new 50-bed Critical Care Unit was inaugurated at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Adilabad on Friday. This provides a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy and Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao formally opened the unit. It has been built at a cost of ₹23.75 crore under the Prime Minister’s Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. The facility is equipped with advanced medical systems. It aims at providing intensive and super-specialty care for critically ill patients.

Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said the new unit would significantly reduce the burden on patients. Previously, they had to travel to Hyderabad or other cities for emergency treatment. He called the development a milestone for healthcare in Telangana.

Rao also highlighted broader initiatives by the State government. He noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had laid the foundation for the ₹2,700 crore reconstruction of Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad. Furthermore, he assured that all vacant posts for doctors, nurses, and support staff at government hospitals including RIMS would be filled rapidly. This is to ensure uninterrupted medical services.

Union Minister Kishan Reddy emphasized the Centre’s efforts in strengthening the national healthcare system. This includes establishing Basti Dawakhanas, AYUSH centers, and hospitals. He also pointed to parallel investments in infrastructure, stating that the central government had spent ₹1.5 lakh crore on national highways in Telangana over the past 12 years. Additionally, an additional ₹80,000 crore is allocated for upcoming projects.
