ACB finds cash, irregularities during surprise checks at SROs in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday conducted surprise inspections at multiple Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) across Telangana, uncovering unaccounted cash and serious procedural violations.

Raids conducted across 11 SROs statewide

A total of 23 ACB teams carried out inspections at SROs located in Gandipet, Serilingampally, Medchal, Nizamabad Town, Zaheerabad, Miryalaguda, Wanaparthy, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Bhoopalpalli, and Wyra. The teams seized ₹2,51,990 in unaccounted cash during the operation.

ACB finds unauthorized persons, non-functional CCTV

Officials discovered 289 registered documents that were pending delivery. They also found 19 unauthorized private individuals and 60 document writers operating within SRO premises. In several locations, CCTV cameras were either not working or absent altogether.

The Bureau stated that these violations are being treated with utmost seriousness. A comprehensive report recommending stern action against erring officials will be submitted to the state government.

Sub-Registrars’ homes searched; valuables seized

Simultaneously, ACB teams searched the residences of 13 Sub-Registrars. During these searches, authorities seized cash, jewellery, and property-related documents. These materials are currently under official scrutiny.
