HYDERABAD, February 12: The deadline for municipalities to submit Backward Class (BC) population data has ended, but crucial details from the Municipal Administration Department and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are yet to be received. The Dedicated BC Commission has stated that it has submitted only the local body reservation report to the government, while work on municipal and municipal corporation reservations is still in progress.’
According to the Commission, a detailed exercise is underway to finalise BC reservations in municipalities and municipal corporations. Officials emphasised that the process requires accurate BC population figures, which are still awaited from municipal bodies.
With local body elections approaching, the reservation framework is crucial for seat allocation. The government is expected to review the Commission’s findings before making further decisions on BC representation in urban local bodies.
