Hyderabad: The Telangana government earmarked a ₹20,000 crore Hyderabad development allocation for the city over the next two years, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday.
Several initiatives under the Hyderabad development allocation were already finalised, he said, while others remained under active execution. He described the funding scale as unprecedented in the state’s history for a single urban centre.
Bhatti Vikramarka was addressing the gathering as chief guest at an event held alongside the CREDAI Property Exhibition Show at HITEX.
As part of the Hyderabad development allocation, the government set aside ₹1,950.52 crore within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits. It also earmarked ₹12,500 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board and ₹4,365 crore for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
According to him, Hyderabad was competing with leading Indian cities as well as global urban centres for investment, skilled manpower, and quality of life.
Hyderabad development allocation and urban integration
Calling it a landmark move, the Deputy Chief Minister said the merger of 27 surrounding urban local bodies into the GHMC strengthened integrated urban planning. He said the decision ensured uniform civic services and a unified development vision across the Outer Ring Road region.
Hyderabad, he said, ranked among the fastest-growing and most investment-attractive cities in the country. He attributed this position to sustained institution-building, democratic governance, and the People’s Government’s focus on inclusive development.
He further said current progress built on foundations laid by previous administrations. At the same time, the present government reinforced growth through transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.
Reflecting the government’s development philosophy, the municipal consolidation aimed at balanced and equitable urban growth. He said Hyderabad was evolving as a cohesive metropolitan city rather than fragmented affluent zones.

Infrastructure works under Hyderabad development allocation
Under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure Programme, the government executed projects worth over ₹7,032 crore. These works included 45 major flyovers and underpasses and 10 road-widening projects across the city.
Near KBR Park, authorities implemented projects worth ₹1,090 crore to ease traffic congestion. In the western corridor, multi-level flyovers near IIIT and Khajaguda came up at a cost of ₹837 crore, while road-widening works worth ₹70 crore progressed simultaneously.
In northern Hyderabad, the government developed alternative road networks near the Army Ordnance Centre at a cost of ₹960 crore to resolve long-standing traffic bottlenecks. In the eastern parts, flyovers at TKR College, Gayatri Nagar, and Mandamallamma Junction, costing ₹416 crore, aimed to improve connectivity.
Similarly, in southern Hyderabad, road-widening projects worth ₹863 crore moved forward to support rapid urban expansion.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Hyderabad would remain Telangana’s primary engine for employment, innovation, and global investment. He added that the government remained committed to ensuring equitable access to development benefits.
He said the administration was not merely constructing roads and flyovers but also rebuilding public trust in governance. He also reiterated the government’s willingness to address concerns faced by the real estate sector.
