Warangal super-speciality hospital to be operational by year-end: Health Minister

Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Tuesday announced that the under-construction super-speciality hospital in Warangal is likely to start operations by the end of this year. Sharing updates on platform X, he said nearly 75 percent of construction work is complete.

The Minister said the Congress government is fast-tracking the project to meet the year-end deadline and has resolved payment delays to contractors. The hospital is expected to serve as a major healthcare centre for North Telangana, reducing dependency on Hyderabad for advanced treatment.

The Warangal facility, once operational, will ease the burden on tertiary hospitals in Hyderabad by offering local access to surgeries and critical care. The hospital will include 13 blocks and 34 departments and is being positioned as a hub for free super-speciality care for the underprivileged.

Initially conceived during the previous BRS government as a 24-storey structure launched in June 2021, the project design was later revised by the current administration. The Minister criticised the earlier government for inflated cost estimates and delays, stating that the present regime had rationalised expenditure.

The Revanth Reddy-led government has so far sanctioned ₹1,116 crore for construction, equipment procurement, and infrastructure development. Separate funds have been allocated for advanced medical systems.
