Hyderabad: Police arrested two people in Wanaparthy job fraud cases after they allegedly collected money from unemployed people with promises of government school jobs.
According to Gopalpet SI Shashidhar, the accused targeted unemployed people by offering attendant posts at government schools. The police identified the accused as Vanguru Ravi Prasad of Peddamaroor and Thogata Hanuman Das of Manajipet in Killaganapuram mandal.
Meanwhile, the accused allegedly collected Rs. 50 thousand each from Boya Krishnaveni of Chennuru village and Boggu Manjula of Polke Pahad village. They also took Rs. 1 lakh each from the two women by promising attendant appointments at Girls High School and Polke Pahad High School in Gopalpet.
The accused allegedly used an email sent on the Vidyanjali letter pad of the Central Education Department. The email contained appointment orders, which the victims believed were genuine.
However, the victims did not receive salaries for five months after joining the jobs. They later questioned Ravi Prasad and Hanuman Das about the unpaid salaries and sought clarification.
Wanaparthy job fraud led to police action
Following the complaints, the accused allegedly avoided the victims by giving irrelevant answers about their salaries. Subsequently, the victims approached the police and reported the alleged cheating.
Police arrested Ravi Prasad and Hanuman Das and questioned them about the allegations. During interrogation, the accused confessed to cheating the victims, according to the SI.
Earlier, the victims had joined the jobs after receiving the appointment orders through the email. However, the absence of salaries for five months prompted them to challenge the accused and seek police intervention.
Police later produced both accused before the Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Wanaparthy. The court sent them to remand, SI Shashidhar explained.
