Vivek Venkatswamy says social media targeting him over caste

Hyderabad: State Minister Vivek Venkatswamy on Sunday said he is being unfairly targeted by social media because of his caste. He made these remarks while addressing the United Conference of the Mala community in Nizamabad district.

He alleged that certain individuals had provoked State Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar to criticise him publicly. Moreover, he expressed disappointment at the internal attacks and questioned the motives behind them.

According to him, some leaders fear that he will receive credit if Congress wins the upcoming Jubilee Hills byelection. Consequently, they are trying to damage his image out of insecurity.

Venkatswamy said he was surprised by Laxman Kumar’s comments. He reminded the audience that his father, G. Venkataswamy – popularly known as Kaka – had helped Laxman rise in politics. Despite this, he said, gratitude had been replaced with baseless criticism.

He reaffirmed his commitment to public service. He stressed that such political attacks would not distract him from his responsibilities or his focus on serving the people.
