Hyderabad: Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to the all-round development of Chennur Municipality, announcing projects worth over ₹85 crore ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.
Speaking at Marwadi Bhavan in Chennur town, Dr. Vivek said that recent development efforts have already improved infrastructure and boosted local business activity. He assured residents that all civic concerns brought to his attention would be addressed promptly.
₹45 Crore Godavari Water Project to Benefit Chennur
The Minister recalled that during his initial visit to Chennur, basic services were missing. “At the time, auto-rickshaws charged ₹200 just to reach interior wards,” he noted. Following his election, the government laid CC roads and built side drains in every ward. Currently, development works worth ₹40 crore are in progress to meet the growing demands of the area.
In addition, Dr. Vivek announced a ₹45 crore plan to bring Godavari water to Chennur. This project aims to ensure a steady drinking water supply for the next 15 years.
Chennur Municipality Development Gains Community Backing
Dr. Vivek also highlighted his long-standing relationship with the Marwadi community. He shared how his early business ventures involved Marwadi partners, saying, “They taught me discipline and thrift—values that continue to guide me.” He encouraged the community to support Congress candidates in the upcoming polls.
Furthermore, he urged residents to offer suggestions that could help shape a better development roadmap for Chennur. He emphasized that public involvement is vital to long-term success.
During a recent Cabinet meeting, Dr. Vivek requested more funds for the Chennur Assembly constituency. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy responded positively and promised increased allocations for the upcoming 2027 Pushkaralu. The Minister added that the Congress government plans to organize the event with the same grandeur as the Medaram Jathara.
