Uttam housing colony in Huzurnagar set for March launch

Hyderabad: Uttam housing colony Huzurnagar is set for inauguration in the first week of March, marking a major affordable housing push in the constituency.

The 110-acre project at Ramaswamy Gutta in Huzurnagar will provide 2,160 single-bedroom flats to economically weaker families. Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy spearheaded the initiative. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has been invited to formally inaugurate the colony.

Originally launched during Uttam Kumar Reddy’s tenure as Housing Minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh between 2011 and 2014, the project later stalled. However, after the Congress returned to power in 2023, the government revived and fast-tracked the scheme.

Reviewing works at the site, the Minister directed officials to speed up completion. He held the inspection with V.P. Gowtham, Managing Director of Telangana Housing Corporation, and Suryapet District Collector Tejas Nandalal Pawar.

He instructed officials to deploy adequate manpower and ensure coordination in water supply, electrification, plantation, beautification and CC roads. He made it clear that the schedule would not be revised.

The project cost stands at Rs 125 crore, excluding land acquisition. The government purchased the land from the Endowments Department at full market value after completing statutory formalities, he said.

The colony will include a primary health centre and a school with modern facilities. It will also provide green spaces, water supply and electrification.

The Uttam housing colony Huzurnagar targets economically weaker sections, including rice mill workers and rural poor families from nearby areas. Authorities will conduct beneficiary selection through a transparent process overseen by the Revenue Divisional Officer.

The Minister said officials would finalise 1,000 beneficiaries in the first phase. He stressed that no ineligible family should receive allotment.

The inauguration programme will feature a public meeting addressed by the Chief Minister. It will also include a “Sahapankti Bhojanam” community lunch with beneficiary families to mark the launch.
