Urea shortage troubles farmers in Dharmaram and Mutharam

Hyderabad: Farmers in Peddapalli district are grappling with a severe urea shortage, as distribution issues persist in Dharmaram and Mutharam mandals. Despite allocations by the agriculture department, the available quantity has fallen short of demand, causing widespread frustration.

In Dharmaram mandal, 270 bags of urea were allotted to the DCMS center in Ramayyapalli village. As news of the stock arrival spread, farmers rushed to the center early on Wednesday morning, carrying Aadhaar cards and copies of their pattadar passbooks. Long queues formed, but many farmers expressed concern that the supply would not meet the growing demand.

Farmers standing in line said the quantity was insufficient for the current agricultural needs and urged authorities to increase the supply immediately. “Even though distribution is happening, it’s not enough. We need timely intervention to save our crops,” one farmer said.

Meanwhile, in Mutharam mandal, the situation was no better. Farmers placed their footwear in queues early in the morning, hoping to secure bags of urea once distribution began. The symbolic gesture reflected their desperation as they waited for hours under the sun.

Local farmers are calling on the Telangana government to address the urea shortage urgently and ensure smooth and adequate fertilizer supply across affected regions.
