Hyderabad: The proposed UltraTech Cement project in Kodangal could bring an investment of around ₹3,000 crore to Vikarabad district, with the company reportedly planning a major industrial facility across nearly 2,200 acres. If the project takes shape, it could create employment opportunities and support businesses linked to the industrial unit.
The proposal covers land across four revenue villages in Kodangal mandal: Kasturipalli, Indanur, Angadiraichur and Gandlapalli. Land acquisition, statutory clearances and infrastructure development will play a key role in determining the project’s progress.
The planned UltraTech Cement project is expected to draw on the region’s limestone resources. Estimates suggest that the area may hold deposits sufficient for around 40 years. However, official reports must establish the quantity and quality of the reserves, along with the permissions required for mining.
UltraTech Cement project targets 2,500 jobs
The project could generate around 2,500 direct and indirect jobs, according to preliminary estimates. Local residents may benefit if the company prioritises recruitment from nearby communities and provides the necessary skills training. The extent of local employment will depend on the project’s implementation and recruitment plans.
The reported target is to begin production by December 2027. However, the company and authorities would need to complete construction and secure the required clearances within the proposed schedule. Official details on construction progress and the status of approvals will help establish whether the target remains achievable.
The proposed investment could also create opportunities for transport operators, suppliers and other local businesses. Its impact on Kodangal’s economy will depend on how the investment translates into actual industrial activity, local recruitment and supporting infrastructure.
Environmental safeguards will remain an important consideration as the project moves forward. Dust control, water consumption and the effects of limestone mining will require attention. Compliance with environmental regulations and protection of local residents’ interests will also matter as authorities assess the proposal.
The proposed UltraTech Cement project could reshape industrial activity in Kodangal if the company implements the investment as reported. The project’s final scope, clearances and production schedule still require official confirmation.
