Hyderabad: The new Tungabhadra Dam crest gates were inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of the Chief Ministers of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, marking a significant milestone in the dam’s modernisation.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil participated in the inaugural ceremony held at the Tungabhadra Dam near Hosapete in Karnataka. Before the event, the leaders met at the IRB Guest House in Hosapete.

The dignitaries later proceeded to the dam site and jointly inaugurated Crest Gates Nos. 17, 18, 19 and 20 as part of the installation of 33 new crest gates. They also unveiled a commemorative plaque marking the completion of the phase. The event witnessed the participation of senior officials and representatives associated with the project.

Following the inauguration, D.K. Shivakumar, Revanth Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister C.R. Patil greeted the gathering together.
The leaders joined hands and posed for a group photograph, highlighting cooperation among the participating states on the river project. The ceremony concluded with the leaders interacting with officials at the project site.
