Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao criticised Telangana Agro Industries Development Corporation staff for neglecting duties during a surprise inspection on Saturday.
Minister flags poor attendance and laxity
During the unannounced visit, Tummala found several employees absent during scheduled hours. He questioned the effectiveness of the biometric attendance system, asking whether the office used facial recognition or fingerprint scans. He warned that state offices must follow strict punctuality and accountability.
The Minister stressed that the government expects all agriculture-related corporations to function efficiently.
Agros revival a priority
Tummala pointed out that Agros, once a vital support agency for farmers, had become ineffective. He said the inspection aimed to assess its current state and ensure that it returns to serving farmers properly.
He also referred to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s tour of cyclone-affected areas, noting that the CM witnessed farmers’ hardships and promised full support.
₹10,000 per acre for crop loss
The Minister announced that the government will offer ₹10,000 per acre as compensation to farmers who suffered crop damage from Cyclone Montha. He also advised cotton farmers to carefully dry their produce to meet moisture standards for the support price.
