Tummala Nageswara Rao inaugurates Manchukonda Lift Project in Khammam

Hyderabad: Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Tuesday inaugurated the Manchukonda Lift Irrigation Project in Raghunathapalem mandal of Khammam district. He said the project reflects his dream of seeing farmers thrive with green fields across the region.

Speaking to a news channel at the site, Tummala said his goal over the next three years is to bring Godavari water to the fields of farmers in Khammam and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts. “It is my life’s mission to wash the feet of farmers with Godavari water,” he declared.

The Minister recalled that the foundation stone for the Manchukonda project was laid on January 13 last year, coinciding with Bhogi festival. “We promised to complete it in one year, and we delivered,” he said, dedicating the project to the public.

The Manchukonda lift scheme will provide irrigation to 2,412 acres by diverting water from the Nagarjuna Sagar system. Officials said the project will benefit drought-prone Raghunathapalem mandal, enabling cultivation of two crops annually.

Tummala expressed hope that in the next three years, the region will be transformed with flourishing agriculture.
