Hyderabad: Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has expressed strong support for the Telangana Rising 2047 vision, following a meeting with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in New Delhi on Thursday.
Blair, who now leads the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBIGC), met the Chief Minister for an hour-long interaction focused on Telangana’s long-term development strategy. The Telangana Rising 2047 blueprint is scheduled for formal release on December 9, 2025, marking two years of the current state administration.
Revanth Reddy outlined key focus areas of the plan, including targeted development for farmers, youth, and women, along with broader improvements in human development indicators. He also introduced a microplanning framework categorizing zones as core urban, peri-urban, and rural, with sustainability as a central theme.
Blair commended the state’s integrated approach to sustainable development and showed particular interest in initiatives such as the proposed Bharat Future City, Young India Skills University, and Young India Sports University.
A Letter of Intent was exchanged between the Government of Telangana and TBIGC to formalize future collaboration on the Rising 2047 vision and its implementation.
The meeting was also attended by Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, MPs Raghuveer Reddy and Mallu Ravi, Advisor Jitender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and Coordination Secretary Gaurav Uppal.
