Hyderabad: Frequent tiger sightings in the erstwhile Adilabad district have triggered widespread concern among rural residents, with reports of big cats moving near villages causing fear across the region.
In the latest incident, a group of youths spotted a tiger walking along a forest trail in Raghunathpur area under Boath mandal. They alerted forest officials immediately. Locals say this is not an isolated incident, with recent sightings becoming more regular.
Residents in several nearby villages have stopped venturing into their fields for work. Farmers and labourers are reportedly hesitant to enter agricultural lands, particularly those bordering forest zones.
Forest officials confirmed that the tiger, believed to be a male, has been active in the Raghunathpur forest zone for two consecutive days. In that period, two cattle were reportedly killed in separate attacks. Herders are avoiding forest edges, fearing further losses.
Authorities have deployed two teams to monitor the animal’s movement. Forest department sources suspect the tiger is searching for a mate and may have strayed from its home range. Preliminary tracking indicates the animal likely came from Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary.
