Hyderabad: Three members of a family allegedly died by suicide on the railway tracks at Cherlapally on Saturday morning, police said. This incident is being referred to as the Cherlapally suicide by local authorities.
Police identified the deceased as Surendar Reddy, P Vijaya, and P Chaitana. All three belonged to the same family and lived at Haritha Colony in Boduppal. On Saturday morning, the trio left their residence and went to the railway tracks in the Cherlapally area, leading to what is now called the Cherlapally suicide by investigators.
Suicide case under GRP investigation
Police said the three family members jumped in front of an MMTS train and ended their lives. The impact killed them on the spot and briefly disrupted train movement in the section. The Cherlapally suicide has deeply affected residents in the area.
After receiving information, Government Railway Police personnel rushed to the location and secured the scene. Police then shifted the bodies to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
The Government Railway Police registered a suicide case and began an investigation. Officials said they were awaiting further details. Ultimately, the case is still under investigation.
