Hyderabad: Three unqualified individuals practising allopathy without valid medical credentials were booked by Hayathnagar police, Telangana Medical Council Vice Chairman Dr. Gundagani Srinivas confirmed on Thursday.
Based on public complaints, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) conducted surprise inspections across the Hayathnagar and Kuntloor areas on Wednesday. Acting on inputs, the TSMC team found several unauthorised clinics and individuals offering modern medical treatment without MBBS qualifications.
Dr. Umakanth, holding a BAMS degree, was found operating Sunrise Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Kuntloor while practising allopathy. In Hayathnagar, a man named Brahmendra was illegally offering modern treatments at Sri Vijaya Brahmendra First Aid Centre. Another individual, Vinod, who holds only an intermediate qualification, was providing unauthorised services at Hanuman First Aid Centre.
At Sri Sai Poly Clinic, Dr. K.S. Prasad, with a BHMS degree, was posing as an MBBS doctor and misleading patients. Rambabu, associated with Balaji First Aid Centre, was also providing unlicensed medical services. All were found prescribing antibiotics and steroids without any proper authority.
The council issued notices to Umakanth and K.S. Prasad for misusing their qualifications. Formal complaints were lodged against Rambabu Kompalli, Raghavachari Vishwanadula, and Vanam Vinod Kumar—three individuals allegedly posing as MBBS doctors and running unauthorised hospitals.
Cases have been registered under sections of the NMC Act (34, 54), Telangana State Medical Practitioners Registration Act (22), and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (318, 319), said Hayathnagar CI Nagaraju Goud.
Dr. Srinivas added that the TSMC has registered over 500 such cases across Telangana so far. The Hayathnagar inspections were conducted by Dr. KUN Vishnu, vigilance officer Rakesh, and other officials. He noted that some clinics closed and fled during the raids, and further checks are being planned.
TSMC urged citizens to report fake doctors via email at antiquackerytsmc@onlinetsmc.in. He warned that stricter legal action will follow against violators.
