Hyderabad: The Telangana government arranged 5,000 special TGSRTC Raksha Bandhan buses from August 28 to 31 to handle increased passenger movement during the festival period.
The additional services were planned across Telangana as families prepared to travel for Raksha Bandhan. Passenger movement was expected to increase due to the festival and the extended holiday weekend.
Therefore, the government stepped up bus services to accommodate the anticipated festive rush. The special services were aimed at making travel easier for passengers heading home for family celebrations.
TGSRTC Raksha Bandhan buses to handle festive rush
The TGSRTC Raksha Bandhan buses were scheduled to operate for four days, covering the main festival travel period. The government said the additional services would strengthen public transport when thousands of families were expected to travel.
Moreover, the initiative was intended to provide greater bus availability and reduce travel difficulties during the festive period. The arrangements formed part of the State government’s efforts to strengthen public transport under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
While regular services catered to daily commuters, the special deployment focused on the temporary rise in passenger demand. The government planned the additional services across the State rather than limiting them to regular daily operations.
As a result, passengers travelling for Raksha Bandhan were expected to have access to more bus services between August 28 and 31. The government described the measure as part of its effort to support families travelling home for the festival.
