Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has become the first public transport body in India to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its operations. The initiative, in partnership with Hansa Equity Partners LLP, aims to revolutionise fleet management, health monitoring, and operational efficiency.
TGSRTC unveiled its AI implementation plan during a high-level presentation to Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday. Officials, including Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj and Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar, attended the session.
TGSRTC AI integration to enhance scheduling and employee health
The AI project will enable demand-based bus scheduling by analysing traffic data, festivals, and ridership trends. This will help optimise fleet usage and reduce operational waste. AI tools are also being used to assess medical reports of over 40,000 employees to flag health risks and boost preventive care. A successful pilot in six depots is now being rolled out statewide.
AI to drive digital transformation in Telangana’s transport sector
Managing Director V.C. Sajjanar said AI will bring transparency, speed, and accuracy to TGSRTC’s daily operations. He called the integration a “strategic leap” that will prepare the corporation for future transport demands and position it as a national leader in AI-driven transit.
The AI project builds on the Strategic Deployment Plan (SDP) launched in 2021, which has already improved digital services and financial sustainability. The Minister felicitated Trinadha Babu and Suneel Regulla of Hansa Equity Partners LLP for their CSR contributions to the SDP.
Senior officials, including executive directors Munishekar Khushrosha Khan, Venkanna, Rajasekhar, and IT Chief Engineer Sridevi, were present at the review.
