Hyderabad: A tense situation unfolded near the Telangana BJP office in Nampally after workers launched a protest against Revanth remarks on Hindu deities. BJP leaders tried to march towards the PCC office, but police blocked them at Nampally. A brief scuffle followed, and tension rose sharply in the area.
Police deployed large forces around Gandhi Bhavan, where the Chief Minister allegedly made the remarks during the PCC executive meeting held on Tuesday. The protests gained momentum on Wednesday as BJP leaders condemned the comments.
Revanth remarks trigger fresh confrontation in Nampally
BJP leaders said they would continue the agitation until the Chief Minister issued an apology. They claimed that VHP and RSS workers were preparing to join the march towards Gandhi Bhavan. Police strengthened security at all access points to prevent further escalation.
Congress leaders defended Revanth Reddy. They said he mentioned Hindu deities only to stress unity among party leaders. According to them, he did not intend to insult any deity. Senior Congress leaders added that BJP lacked issues to target the government and used Revanth remarks to create controversy.
