Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department has issued a Telangana weather alert as southwest monsoon currents intensified over the region, with widespread rainfall forecast over the next three days.
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre reported a monsoon trough extending from a low-pressure area over Rajasthan to the northeast Bay of Bengal, triggering heavy rainfall conditions across the state through July 22. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in most districts, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several areas.
Rainfall activity picked up on Wednesday, with thunderstorms reported across the erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, and Hyderabad. The IMD has predicted isolated heavy rain in parts of Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar on Thursday.
In the past 24 hours, light showers were recorded in Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, and Narayanpet districts. The highest rainfall was logged at Chegunta in the Medak district, which received 2.85 cm of rain.
